Designed for home studio use, the TASCAM VL-S5 Powered Studio Monitor combines a 40W powered 5.25″ Kevlar low frequency woofer with a 30W powered 1″ silk dome tweeter to deliver a frequency response of 60 to 22,000 Hz.
Both the tweeter and woofer feature a dedicated amplifier with a crossover point set to 3.2 kHz to maximize the efficiency of both drivers while moving phasing issues out of the critical midrange. Integrated RF interference, output protection, and heat protection circuits protect the monitor during operation.
With both balanced XLR and balanced/unbalanced 1/4″ TRS input connectors, a dedicated rear panel volume control, and magnetically shielded enclosure to prevent interference with sensitive electronics (e.g. computer displays, hard drives, etc), the monitor is suited for a wide range of mixing and mastering applications.
